Zafira Spare Cable

    Hi

I have been wiring up a towbar on my 2002 2.2 Zafira and was trying to find
where the trailor/caravan pre-wired supply ended up.

I found where the cable was terminated (in the passenger footwell multiplug
if anyone is ever wiring one up) but also found another cable I cannot
    identify.

My car does not have a pre-wired trailor plug but there is a 3 way plug with
a red/white cable and earth in the drivers side rear light area. The wire is
a fairly meaty size which is why I thought it was the trailor power wire but
there is no voltage on it.

So what does that wire do? Just idle curiosity now I got a supply to the
    back of the car.

Also where would I find the ALDL connector to get any fault codes out of it.
It showed a fault at the weekend after starting up and mis firing so I
    presume the fault is logged.

    Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the wire for the 12 volt power point socket ( like a fag lighter
hole ) It is mounted in the trim next to the osr light. It wont be live
without fitting a relay that is buried up behind the dash on the drivers
    side.
ALDL plug is under the trim by the handbrake lever.
Misfires usually mean coil pack problems.

Hi Paul by ALDL do you mean OBD11 / EOBD then that is under the handbrake
lever. You have to prise up the front edge of the cover (nearest the gear
    stick.

    Thanks me140

Thats what I thought it was for. I wanted (and still want) to put in an
auxiliary socket so my kids can use the dvd player.

Don't spose you know which relay it is? Haynes wiring diagram misses out all
the non-vital bits (and probably half the vital bits as well). The front
cigarette lighter is not shown on a relay which is why I did not think this
    would be on one.

WRT coil pack thats what I thought which is why I want to read the fault
    codes.

    Thanks

There should be a socket under the r/h removeable cover in the boot.

If you take the trim off that is above the pedals and look upwards you will
see an empty relay socket fastened to the metal dash spar - that's where it
goes. There will be another empty socket near it that would have the running
lights relay in ( legal in certain countries).
The one you want has 4 wires to it.
    2x red/white
    1x red
    1x brown
relay is called K154 and you need to put a 20amp fuse in the hole number 33.
You need to buy the plug hole to fit in the back trim too.
    Hope this helps.
