Zafira rear door wiring harness

  1. Hi

The central locking and electric window started playing up on the rear door
of my V reg 1.8 Elegance Zafira,.

Sometimes the window would not close and on other occasions the central
    locking would not work.

I spent Sunday afternoon tracking down the fault.

I found that that several cables run in a rubber boot from the door pillar
to a plug at the front bottom of the door, when I pulled the rubber boot
back, I discovered that some of the wires had broken, including the thick
    supply cable.

I carried out a temporary repair using solder and sleeving, all electrics on
the door functioned correctly. I checked the same cable on the other rear
door, although no conductors were broken the insulation on several of the
    wires was damaged.

I tried to get replacement loom from Autovaux, but they couldn't help
because there are so many parts of the harness. Tried the local Vauxhall
dealer who again couldn't help because of the large number of different
possible parts. He also said that he had never been requested for this part
    before.

Surely my Zafira is not unique, there must be others with similar faults.

Has any one else had this fault and if so how did they carry out a permanent
    fix?

    Thanks for your help

    Regards Howard

Interesting. our drivers side rear door is completely dead, electrically.
its on the list of things to look at, but couldnt be bothered with removing
the panel. Must try what you found. Cheers.

My friend had same fault and as he is one of those people that like
everything to be "perfect" he bought a replacement loom - cost was around
£300 for the loom as it is part of the full body loom and is a huge amount
    of wiring.
I would do what you have done and just repair it.
