Zafira - front fog light bulb removal

Hi Folks;

Yesterday wifey wanted to use the front fog lights on the Zafira for
the first time ever ( yes it was very foggy...) - no fog lights.

Quick check 10 pm yesterday showed that the fuse has blown. Hoping
it's just a duff bulb, but in terms of bulb replacement the user manual
says " refer to dealer" and Haynes reckons you have to take the front
bumper etc. off to get at the fog light housings.

Is there any other quick way of getting to the bulbs, or am I doomed
to be taking the front bumper off in the cold & dark and poking about
with my multimeter :-(((

Cheers............

answering my own posts again....gave in and took the front bumper off,
4 different types of screws all coated in 5 years worth of road grime.
Finally got to the bulbs, found one short circuit, then realised I
hadn't got a spare of that type. So back on went the bumper...still I'm
sure I can remove it much quiocker next time :-((.

Just to round off a good day's motor maintainance took said vehicle
for its MOT...found out that the VIN doesn't exist on the DVLA
computer, so it can't be MOT'd. Back home for the V5, garage finally
managed to enter new V5 details to match the VIN ( two digits had been
transposed). Then it wasn't happy with an Opel as opposed to a Vauxhall
- presumably the original owner imported this vehicle. Still the
flippin thing did eventually pass the MOT without any further work!

Hi Airsmoot,

Sorry no one replied, no doubt just like me they are waiting for
someone to remove the bumper assembly. How long do you think you spent
on it ?
Having looked at my Zafira's fog-lights I can see what you mean about
access. You would think Opel / Vauxhall would have made access easy
for both bulb and lamp replacement.

Hi Steve - well it took about an hour and a half to get the blessed
bumper off, poke about with my multimeter & put the bumper back on.
Hoepfully it will be quicker next time as I've loosened all the dirt
encrusted screws now :-/. To get a decent amount of clearance for the
screws in the front wheel arch you'd need to remove the front road
wheels, but I couldn't be bothered to go that far.

Not the worst job ever ( i'll reserve that for crank sensor repalcement
on the 2 litre Omega), but rather longer than I'd expect just to change
a bulb!

RE front fog light
