I have been told not to use supermarket fuel in my Z19TDH engine (1.9
DOHC 150 PS) as it causes problems with the EGR valve.

A member of staff at a Vauxhall dealer said that the only common factor
they found in the problems they had seen was that the owners had used
fuel from supermarkets rather than the major chains.

Does anyone know anything about this?

I know nothing - and if you google "supermarket diesel egr valve" (but omit
the quotes), it seems there is little agreement.

I can't imagine there is an issue cos minimum fuel specs apply, but if there
is, I would expect to see heaps of people suing car manufacturers on ground
of "not fit for purpose".

I did google something similar, but found practically nothing that
applied specifically to this engine. Lots of older petrol engines,
though, which isn't much use to me.

A different search on 1.9 EGR instead of Z19TDH was more profitable.
