I am looking for some advice, I have a 1999 Zafira 1.8 Elegance, in
the last few days the off side rear passenger door has stopped
    locking/unlocking with the central locking.

I took it to my local dealer who said that it needed :

"off side door lock motor" £130.60
    "Central locking e.c.u" £254.98
    **********
    £385.58
    **********

    My question is :
If the central locking e.c.u has blown up why are the other doors/boot
working fine? and a £130.60 does seem expensive for a solenoid/door
    switch?

Is there another test I can do to confirm that it is not just a blown
fuse, as they said there was no signal getting to the door switch?

Is this a common fault? Can I get re-con parts?

This is the only glitch in an otherwise faultless vehicle (so far!)

    TIA

Not on this car but the only problem i have had with any car to do with door
function not working ie. windows, locks etc is the wires chaffing in the
door hinge. you may be able to get away with replaing a pice of wire that
has split from near the door hinge of the rear door. or not?

They are telling you both these went together?

    I think not!

Have you taken the door panel off and checked the multi plug hasn't come
loose? If you don't mind spending a bit of time take the nsr motor assembly
off and plug in into the osr to see if it works. It won't bolt in but will
tell you if you need a motor or if you need to look else where for the
fault. Before you do this look where the wire goes into the door and check
    the plug is in.

Thanks for the updates, The garage said I would need both of these to
fix. Maybe next weekned I will split both doors and swap the motors
over by plug at least, this will tell me if it is working or not.

    Thanks for the advice all.
