Whistling Zafira

I have a 2006 (new shape) Zaffy 1.6 Life (petrol) that whistles at about
3000RPM, it is more noticeable when changing gear and 'reapplying' the
throttle. I read a thread on this a few months ago but cannot find the
answer to my question on Google Groups. I have taken mine to the dealer
twice now where it stays all day and they say they cannot find anything that
is causing it, although they can hear it!. I have mentioned this group and
that it seems to be the throttle body and breather pipe that is at fault but
the dealer says Vauxhall will not "authorise warranty work on internet
hearsay!". Has anybody had this problem and had it fixed? I am in Leeds in
case there is another dealer who knows about the problem

P.S. I am getting approx 32MPG in normal motoring, is this similar to other
people

Go back to your dealer - this is a known problem with the Z16XEP engine -
there is a modified throttle body and breather pipe that will need
ordering/fitting - it will be as quiet as a mouse after.

Internet hearsay my arse - tell them to look on their Vauxhall TIS as it is
on there.

Many thanks but, I had already seen this (in August) AND printed it off AND
shown it to the dealer on my second visit hence his comment on "internet
hearsay". My question to the group is " Has anybody had this problem and
had it fixed?"

Many thanks, just so I do not look a complete prawn what is a TIS, I realise
they would/should know but forewarned is forearmed...

TIS is the Vauxhall bible - has everything on it from wiring diagrams down
to latest software updates for the car ecu's - think of it like the most
comprehensive Haynes manual you can get.
There are also a huge list of common problems on all Vauxhalls and on it is
one all about whistling Zafira's.

Nothing as yet, just got back from a holiday with the family (half term).

Why not phone Vauxhall directly about it? Don't quote the group!
