Which model radio?

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Adrian Hodgson, Dec 8, 2005.

  1. I have a Vectra model B 96 GLS version. When I got it there was no radio
fitted, I have fitted a basic model in the dash but obviously the TIS
display and Steering column controls do not work.
Can someone please tell me what model should be fitted?

I believe it was a Philips but not to sure.

Any one have a spare unit??

The Philips one is the tape player I think - a CAR400.

My dad had a '97 Vectra and at that time they came with the CAR400 but
the CD player (Delco CDR500) was a no-cost option. This may also be an
    option for you.

If you get one (eBay would be a good bet) - make sure you get the
security code included with it, as it may require it when first used in
    your car.

Your local Vauxhall dealer will have spare CAR300 & CAR400
radio/cassettes in the showroom which they will probaably sell you for
a pittance - that is what we do!

Alternatively they will supply and fit a CD player that will work with
the remote display and steering wheel controls for £180. They have
cheaper ones but they do not work the display and remote controls.

Just make sure that the wiring has not been messed around with.

  4. Cheers
    all for the responses.

A guy at work has the year after model and after going through his audio
book for the car I may go for a CDR500. TRying the likes of ebay or local
breakers if they have the security code!

    Cheers
