My car windscreen and side windows have a habit of misting up very easily, I
read somewhere that taking out the pollen filter will cure this problem.
Where is the pollen filter located and how easy is it to remove? Its a 98
    Vectra btw.

You will find it under the bonnet behind the engine bay
you will see a plastic cover under the windowscreen and just above a rubber
    gasket
if you lift that cover up you will find it under there in an housing box

I found what looks like a filter under a clipped plastic lid, the filter
looks fairly big around 9" x 3" am I in the right place (behind the engine
just under the windscreen). Will I get any problems by removing such a big
filter besides severe hay fever whilst driving? Should I purchase a new
filter or just leave it off? The only problems I'm getting at the moment is
misting up of the windscreen and side windows.

  6. I'm not a mechanic, but if the air flows normally when you switch on the
fan, the pollen filter should not be the problem. Still, some moisture must
be trapped inside your car. I'm probably not being very helpful...

Further to the other replies, (I know that we're talking about different car
makers but the principle should be the same) I once had a F*rd Mondeo that
had this problem. As I didn't particularly care about the pollen filter
working, I took it out, punched a few holes in it and replaced it. This kept
the rain out (it had to be there or the car would flood) but allowed the air
    to circulate.
