Vivaro 1.9 CDTi - Possible Clutch/Flywheel problem

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Matthew Bourne, Nov 20, 2007.

  1. Hi, hope someone can help me with this one...

I have a the above Van and this morning it started making a strange
grinding noise when the clutch was pressed in. When a gear is engaged,
the noise stops and transmission appears to have no slip...

Any ideas what this could be? and how much I should be looking to pay
for the work to be done?

I've had a couple of quotes and we've been told it may be the clutch or
    the flywheel?

    All help greatly appreciated,

    Mat

May be the flywheel centre bush. A big job to replace a 10p part.
Depending on the mileage you might want to get the whole clutch
replaced, or you can drive on a bit and see what happens.

You mean the clutch release bearing? That would be most peoples first
thought, I'd have thought. "Flywheel bush" to me gives more the
    impression of the spigot bearing.
