Hi, Just nipped to town in my 2002 Astra SXI and noticed that the power
steering felt very very light. and that I had to turn the wheel more to turn
    corners.

Can anyone give me any Idea what can be causing this?

PS : as far as I know my power steering fluid is full.

    Thanks

  2. By light do you mean ineffective?

Light steering and having to turn the wheel more at corners are totally
    separate things.

The latter seems unlikely unless someone has sneaked a new steering rack in
    overnight!

it feels very light, IE: requires little effort to turn, but I have to turn
    the wheel more than normal.

DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE!!!

Apologies for shouting, but this very same thing happened to me a while back
with a volvo. it turned out that the steering rack had come adrift from its
mountings and when I turned the wheel, the first thing that happened was the
rack moved to one side. then the front wheels turned.

get someone to wiggle the steering wheel from lock to lock and check to see
    if the rack moves.

  5. Good point.

I would call out Vauxhall Assistance and let the AA check it for you. It may
be nothing but it is better to be safe than sorry!
