wonder if anyone can help, this is driving me mad.
the windows on my vectra steam up on the inside really easily on these cold
mornings. i can clear them by putting the heater and blower on full. however
once the fan is turned off they mist up shortly afterwards. Dont know what
to do about it. only had it about 6 weeks.

    many thanks

I had this on my Astra.

The pollen filter was clogged, and got damp. I noticed that the windows
steamed up like mad the day after it rained.

You can either get a new one (about £10 or so, easy to fit on the Astra) or
chuck the old one and leave it without one. If you are getting a new one,
you could leave it for a few days without one to see if it fixes your
    problem.

    Hi

I had this problem on an older Vauxhall, turned out the car had an inch of
water in it, hidden under the carpet in an inch of foam insulation!!

Check for damp inside the car.

    Regards

Are you sure that you simply haven't got the air on re-circulation? If you
have your car will mist up in no time at this time of year.

Is the heater leaking? Damp carpetrs/front footwells? Smell of anti-freeze?
When you say "only had it about 6 weeks" - is is spanking new, dealer
secondhand or private sale? Do you have a warranty to claim against?

If you can smell antifreeze when fan is switched on then it's almost
certainly a leak from the heater matrix. - Don't know about the
Vectra, but on older Carlton/Cavalier it was quite common.

Bung it back under warranty sharpish, particularly if it's loosing
coolant. The heater rad is not too bad a job according to Mr. Haynes.
Check that all relevant drains are clear first, sunroof and the air vent
one that drains into the engine area. I can't see exactly where it is
from the diagrams in the Haynes manual.

I have a '97 Astra Arctic and it does exactly the same thing - it's the
pollen filter. The present one has lasted almost exactly 12 months and it's
now misting over very quickly - so bad that the air-con has to be used in
    conjunction with the blowers.

Pollen filters are very cheap - the last one I got was £4.70 from Dodgsons
    in Preston (local to me)

Returned to Dodgson's on the way home from work for another pollen filter.
    They've gone up - £5.23 now!!

Windows are clear and plenty of air getting through the vents now...

Seems this could be the same problem I've got. Please can you tell me where
I find the pollen filter (Vectra 1.8GLS 1996)?

    TIA

flap that lifts up(after you remove the rubber strip that stops it from
    lifting up)
it just clips in by one clip each side of it. Also make sure you get the
filter the right way around (arrows of flow going towards th einside of the
    car)
