Looking for advice here, the car will stall when slowing, or at junctions
etc, we hooked it up to a diagnostic system and it was fine, so the garage
said it was the idle speed valve and said to replace it (£200)
    However i found a page..

And it says i'm better off cleaning the valve and the pipes, then fitting a
'flame trap' to stop the gunk getting through.
So basically buying a brand new valve may stop the problem temporarily, but
the real reason for it would remain.
