The mileometer in my 2002 Vectra estate is an LCD 7-segment display type.
The top segments of each figure sometimes start flickering or go completely
    blank.
Does anyone know where the display driver is located, and if it's easy to
get a replacement ? And if it's easy to actually fit a replacement ?

The lcd display can be removed from the clocks - with deft use of a
soldering iron. The problem is that it also contains the mileage reading -
so if you simply get a replacement from a scrappy it will display the
scrappy vehicles mileage. I've just replaced my Astra clocks - the whole
lot for £13 off ebay. I got clocks with slightly higher mileage, but then
by the time i sell the car it wont make much difference. You can replace
and get a mileage correction company to reset to the correct miles but this
    costs 60 quid.

    Thanks for the info Chris.
    I think I'll leave it.
AFAIK it's legal to drive without a functioning milometer - or is it ?

Problem is when it comes to mot time and they try to read the mileage - it
    wont be there.

Have a look on ebay they are dead easy to fit - 5 mins max.

I'm not convinced that your clocks are faulty. My cars mileometer went
blank apart from the lowest segments - the tripometer still worked. I
sorted this out simply be reseating the clocks in the dash. When you
reconnect all the needles/display etc shudder and reset. So it could simply
    be a loose connection.
