    Hi

I've been working on my mates '96 Vectra 2.0l estate which failed to start
after being left for a few days in the cold. After replacing 2 faulty
glowplugs and priming the fuel system by pouring fuel into the out pipe from
the fuel filter to the injector pump, it started and ran ok . Left it for
half an hour , still started ok . The next day my mate couldn't get it to
    start.

    Any Ideas please?

    TIA Mark

    X-No-Archive: yes

air leaking into the fuel line somewhere.

That explains the front of the engine being covered in diesel then.
Will Steam it clean and have a look

    Thanks

    Injector seals I would guess.

Have you refitted the leak off pipes correctly? If you have try
replacing the spill off pipes first. Use ONLY the correct ribber
reinforced pipe from vauxhall. You'll need to cut it too length but it's
an easy job. The pipe costs just over a £10 + vat. The fact that you
have diesil over the front of the engine also suggests that the leak off
pipes are leaking. Bit of a fire hazard too even with diesil!.
The injector seals are a right tit of a job that involves lifting the
camshaft. Cost is in the £500 region (depending on labour rates). Diesil
doesn't leak on the outside of the engine if they have failed, the car
just wont start easily after it's been left standing for a few days.
