    Hi all
    I hope you can help
I have just brought a six month old Vectra 2.2 SRi
Within 2 weeks of driving it, the engine suddenly would seem to cut-out and
the car lose power-all lights would go out, I'd lose power-steering, no
acceleration-dead. I could then turn the ignition off then on and the car
    would run normally
The garage said that the computer error said that it was looking for a
different key code and they suggested trying my spare key.
The problem remained and the car was still cutting out
The garage said that the computer said that the car was effectively
de-mobilising itself and the car needs to go in for a 'mod' to the wiring
loom. They wouldn't let me talk to the mechanic and wouldn't elaborate on
    the fault.
It was in for 2 days getting the mod, This was a week ago. Today the car
    effectively 'demobilised itself' again today.
So whatever they did has not resolved the problem.
I'm taking it in tomorrow but wondered if any one else has had this fault on
the new model SRi Vectra. If so does anyone know what might be the cause.
    TIA
    Regards
    Sheri

well, dumping the fault codes would give you an idea.
    the paperclip trick should work.

I am not a mechanic, so that is a useful response...NOT.
I paid £12K for this car. I've only had it a month. Pardon me for not having
    a sense of humour!

that's it chuck it back to 'em.
however you indicated you wanted a bit of an inside idea of what might be
    the cause.
with a paperclip across two pins on a connector hidden in your dash
(somewhere!) and by counting the flashes of a light on your dashboard, it
would tell you, to a degree of what the fault is...

    just trying to help

    hope you get it resolved

Aah I see now. Apologies to you
However, wouldn't i need access to the code database inorder to interpret
    the number of flashes?
I'm just a bog standard woman driver who knows nothing
