    Hi,

I have a Vauxhall Vectra SRi Estate 1999. Over the last few weeks the
alarm keeps going off (usually in the middle of the bloody night!) for
no apparent reason. Its got to the stage whereby i am having to leave
it open over night to ensure i and the neighbours get a good sleep.

Anyone know of any reason whatsoever what could be causing this?

    Thanks in Advance

Closing the fresh air vents might help if it has any.

Does the Vectra have an option to disable the passenger compartment
sensing? this would help eliminate air currents etc. On the zafira you
press the two front courtesy light switches simultaneously, maybe
    something similar on the Vectra.

Does it have a bonnet switch (normally offset to the left, near the
coolant expansion tank - with a concertina'd rubber sleeve over the top)
    - common problem on Omegas - dunno about Veccy's.

Yes it does have a seperate switch to disable the compartment sensing
which i try to remember to use. It's not solving the underlying
    problem though.

I've only just joined the group and have been having a read back
through similar problems. I am coming round to the idea that perhaps i
have a spider in the car which is setting it off.

I'll look a right fool if it is :)

Have had a look under the bonnet and all the rubber sleeving looks
    sound.

    Thanks for the input though

If it's a Vauxhall alarm then it could be the power sounder battery
that's dud - remedy: new power sounder (try to exhaust all other
suggestions first as it's not cheap!).

While you are looking for a solution, suggest you lock the car by closing
all the doors, opening the drivers side rear door and pressing the lock on
the drivers door, then closing the passenger door. This should (hopefully)
lock the car WITHOUT setting the alarm.

Tariq will be right. It will be the power sounder telling you it is
buggered. If you get the fault codes read and it is code 121 that will
    confirm it.
