vectra 2.2 sri brakes and steering

ive a 51 vectra 2.2 sri.and lately when turning the steering wheel or
applying the brakes there's a noise,very low sound.ive also found tiny drips
of oil on drive.is there any warning lights which will come on if this is a
serious problem or should I be alright until service in 2 weeks.

You might have an oil leak from your power steering.
Could be a very good idea to get it checked sooner rather than later.
Do you plan to do a lot of driving in the next two weeks?

If you're dropping oil on the driveway (if it is oil) get it checked now,
don't wait for a catastrophic failure.

 

Realy got to agree with Steve on this one.

Have you checked your fluid level? I think you will find the bottle is empty
and the noise is the pump running dry. Open your bonnet, look down the back
of the engine at the steering rack - lots of room to see on a 2.2 petrol -
are the pipes that join the rack covered in fluid?
If yes you just need some new sealing washers. If you carry on driving it
you will be buying a new pump and maybe a rack too.

Does the 2.2 SRI have any known probs
with the steering rack - local garage told me I would
soon need a new one and I have only done 60k miles

Any other regular probs I should be aware of?
