vauxhaul frontera 2.2l petrol

hi i have no oil going through the pump i was told this had packed in and the whole engine needs to come out to replace this and then the bottom ends go is this true and i should just sell it as it runs fine but now sounds like a diesel cuz no oil getting through? thanks
