Vauxhall revelation

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Darren Bastin, Apr 5, 2004.

  1. As I have mentioned in my previous post I have bought a '98 vectra estate
and I cant believe what I have been missing out all these years of driving.
I have been a ford man since I passed my test and thought vauxhall's were
cheap and nasty ford wannabe's. I was wrong, the solidly built and quality
feel you get from a vauxhall is superb in comparison to a ford and
presumably the whole vauxhall line is as well put together as this. I shall
be buying Vauxhall again. I cant, after having experienced one for the first
time, understand why everybody arent driving one.

I know Vauxhall are a popular car and many people have one but I feel like
Vauxhall's are the biggest kept secret in the automotive industry.

    happy motoring

  3. isnt this the correct newsgroup to relay experiences of vauxhall's?

the name led me to believe it was.

  4. Don't worry, nobody said this isn't the place to relay your experiences.

However nobody said someone wouldn't rip the piss out of you/tell you you
are wrong/correct your spelling or whatever, no matter what you say. That
is the nature of the beast that is usenet.

As with all car ranges, there are differences of quality and opinions
with each model. When compared to the Mondeo of the same year, the
Vectra is a much nicer feeling vehicle, but compare an Escort and
Astra of the same time and the Escort was the better - now the Focus
has taken over that mantle. The Omega has beaten the Granada/Scorpio,
but the Fiesta is better feeling than the Corsa. These are all
subjective views of course, otherwise everybody would be buying
exactly the same cars, but it just shows that manufacturers sometimes
get it right & often get it wrong.

previously owned Astra, Carlton, Corsa, Escort. Best car ever had for
quality & dealer service was a Honda Accord (company car) - overpriced
    but lovely motor
