I've just changed the front suspension wishbones on my 98 omega. When
i took it for a tentative test drive i found that when the wheels were
turned they would scrape on the back of the wheel arches or mud flaps.

This suggests that I've managed to sit the car lower than usual.
    Somehow!

Any ideas as to what i may have done wrong?

Did you lower it to the ground before tightening things up? I think
    that's the usual problem.

Yup i only torqued up the bolts once it was sitting back on its
wheels. I wonder if last time it was done they didn't lower it before
tightening the bolts, making it ride higher. Still doesn't explain
    why its too low now.

Broken front coil spring, or a lowering kit or both together?

My Pug had a broken coil spring; I could feel it sitting lower on one side
but couldn't see it and it turned out that it was only the last turn of the
spring. i.e. the part that sits on the spring cup that had broken off and so
it was only about 1cm lower on one side at the rear.

group the bolts need tightening when the car is level and with a full
weight load inside the car maybe?

Maybe the tracking is way out now.
