Does anybody know the spark plug gap for a G reg (1990) vauxhall cavalier
1.6? I've looked through my Haynes Manual but chapter one says "see chapter
5", and chapter 5 says...you guessed it... "see chapter 1". While that kept
me busy for a few hours maybe I'm just missing something.

    Any help?

    Thanks,
    Mark.

  2. It depends on the make of plug you're fitting, but as a guideline approx

You clearly have the Irish version of the manual!

In fact, what you will find is
If you buy the "normal" spark plug (only one electrode), it will
probably be pre-gapped and have the details on the packet
better still, fit the more expensive super plugs with 4 electrodes -
pre-gapped, never need touching (unless you drop it!), and they really do
seem to be worththe extra couple of quid!

That is a good idea. You won't find multi-electrode plugs anywhere cheaper
    than a vauxhall dealer.

    Hi there "R. Murphy"
I'd love to see some factual fact type blurb on this subject, the general
    consensus is save you money.

My Mondeo 2.0 16V is due for plugs soon and i used to use Bosch Platinum on
my old V6 Granada, there was a definite improvement on that car.

    Anyone point to any 'facts'.

    Hi Pete
I've not seen my plugs yet, so are you saying that standard (Factory) Zetec
    plugs should be platinum?

AFAIK, they certainly should be. ISTR my manual specifying the expensive
    ones.

    Hi Pete
OK Pete, I'll add them to the top of my list, it'd be nice if the person who
    dis'd multi-point platinum's would pop up with his reasoning!>

I'm not sure what "facts" you would like to see - I answered a query from a
Cavalier owner, and know nothing about Mondeos (this being a VX web site,
and they are made by Ford.

As for what I wrote - check it out for yourself and you will find I have
    stated "Facts"

    Hi Again "R. Murphy"

I wasnt knocking what you said, what i meant by 'factual' was something like
a study on some plug manufactures site, not something to detract from your
    input.

I'm really gratefull for your input, i didnt notice the crossposting, my
    bad.
