    Hi,

I want to buy a pickup, but I'd like to get one which is quite small. It
seems that none of the mainstream European manufacturers now make a pickup
(please prove me wrong!) so reluctantly I'll have to go for one which is no
longer made. I really do wonder why there are not made anymore, anyone know?

Anyway, it seems there's either a Vauxhall Brava or a Volkswagen/Skoda
    felicia-something (I forget).

So forgetting the Volks, is there anything about the Brava I ought to
    know?????

By the way, the Czech phrase "To ye skoda" means 'It's a pity'
    hmmm....

Because the EU does not have a large pickup market and the Japanese
manufacturers (who sell globally) make a better product.

    Incidentally, the Brava was a re-badged Japanese-made Isuzu and I wouldn't
call it small - it's substantially bigger than the Skoda Felicia/VW Caddy
and directly comparable to the Mitsubishi L200 and Toyota Hilux.

2WD and 4WD Bravas available, they are very good but engines a bit
breathless on the motorway. The Mitsubishi L200 is significantly more gutsy
than the others, probably why it's the UK best seller. Many ex-AA 4x2 and
4x4 Bravas out there very cheap - if you can put up with yellow...

    Thanks!

By chance I saw a Vauxhall Brava today in Hastings, and heard it (it sounded
horrible). I take with thanks your comment that the Japenese are making a
    better product, I'll investigate.

Maybe the Suzuki Carry Pickup would be ok - the size would be corrrect - but
the sides are so low - seems it'll be quite a job to make them higher, yet
    look ok.

I must try harder to sort this out, otherwise I'll end up with an ex-BT
Escort van and a roof rack. Ugh.
