hi just a quick question i have a vectra 2.6 sri it has done 41,000 miles
now and i,m told by my vauxhall dealer that its due for a timing belt at
40,000 but in my hand book it says the 2.6 is every 8 years or 80,000 miles
just wondered if anyone could help coz its gona cost £371.00 and i,m
wondering whether my dealer just wants some work ...thanks ian

not sure if it covers your car (what year?)
but there was a problem with timing belts failing early
so vauxhall cut the time by 50% to be safe.
do a search on the internet to confirm it affects your engine.

i would say that 370 is everything done...check wit them..
by this i mean..belt/tensioners/rollers/ water pump etc (i'e' everything 'on
    the belt')

if £370 is not all in, question the price'

i got my 2.2i done for £235 all in.

What year is the car? As as aleady been stated, there are warnings on some
earlier models. If it is due for changing, ensure that it is tensioned using
    a sonic tension tester.

Not sure about the 2.6 but I have the 2.5v6 SRI which recently had its
40,000 mile service. My handbook and the dealers says 40k for mine. £650
full service with cam belts and some groovy sensor that had gone.
Only thing that concerned me with cam belt no matter what the motor if that
    thing breaks ya Fooked.

I cant see why the 2.6 & 2.5 would be all that different.
