Still Looking for Cigar Lighter Fuse Vauxhall Vectra 2.0DTi reg plate 53

Discussion in 'Vectra' started by Graham Brooker, Aug 23, 2010.

  1. I am looking for the blown fuse for the cigar lighter on a Vauxhall Vectra
2.0DTi reg plate 53 saloon car. There are 2 lighters in the central gear
stick floor canopy. The socket in front serving the driver/passenger seats
got shorted out with a faulty plug and both this one and the rear one in the
same canopy serving the rear seats are no longer working. I removed and
tested every fuse in both fuse boxes - front nearside next to battery under
bonnet and rear near side of boot compartment - but none of the were blown.
Is there another hidden or may be inline fuse for these sockets somewhere
    else in the car.

    Any ideas appreciated

    Graham

  2. I just have to ask:
have you checked the voltage between center electrode and the shell of
    the lighter jack?
Supposing you answer "yesy" then I could mention that a Cessna 150 I
once owned had no separate fuse for the lighter on thye basis that it
had a built-in thermal fuse (in a manner of speaking).
Have you replaced the jack altogether?

Isn't there a fuse box in the dash, below the steering wheel?

  4. This is a good suggestion. I have however checked the voltage in the socket
and found it to be zero. It was the front socket that got shorted out but
it is both the front and rear seat sockets that no longer work. You idea
could apply to the front socket but why is the rear one not working too. I
am not quite sure how to remove the gear stick cover panels to get to the
actual socket which is why I am asking here first

    Thanks

I bet it's just blown the fuse and the rear ones use the same fuse.
There should be an internal fuse box with these in. They used to be in
the dash below the steering wheel but some are in the passenger side
now I believe. What does the handbook say? If you haven't got one they
are available from the Vauxhall web site I think, I've not looked but I
    think someone said they were.

I had a vauxhall, (01 Astra soft top) and blew a fuse or two on the
lighter socket, again with a dodgy plug. The fuse locations described in
the handbook were pretty fictional. They seemed to add extras at random.
All you can do is to look in all the places where fuses could be hidden.
I would think you are looking for a 20A if it feeds 2 lighters. I doubt
it's necessary to pull the gear lever shroud off, even Vaux aren't that
    devious

  7. The power lead runs between the two lighters. The wire has opened, I guess.

    Hi
The fuse box is located on the left of the dashboard, open passenger door
and unclip the cover on the end of the dash by pulling firmly. The fuse is
number 22 and is a 30 amp. This is out of a 2.2 estate 53 plate manual.
Hope this is what you are looking for.
    Regards
