    Hi

I had my brakes renewed front and back in January and after a few weeks I
noticed they squeak when braking at slow speeds (up to traffic lights,
junctions etc) but not when braking at high speeds (motorway etc)

I complained to the Vauxhall dealer who did this and was told it's because
they can't put asbestos (I think) into the units any more so they use tiny
iron filings and they squeak because of that and nothing can be done about
    it.

    Has anyone else experience this?

    i have the same problem.
what they say is true, the only way that might cure it is new shoes again.
i just put up with it.

Mine were fixed by chamfering the pads. The disks wear away, leaving a lip
that rubs against the edge of the pad. You can either grind the lip off, or
grind the pad on the outer edge.

Thanks for the replies. At least I know they weren't spinning me a line.

I used to have this problem on a Saab back in the last century. The fix
was to use a special compound on the back of the pads that stopped them
vibrating against the calliper. It was a Saab part, I can't remember the
full details, but it seemed like a pasty bostik that dried to a stiff mass
