  2. One possibility is wheel imbalance. This can be caused by worn tyres.
I once had a 1.6 Cav that developed wheel shake at about 105 mph (on the
autobahn, honest!) and was cured after I replaced the front tyres.

Swap the wheels from one side to the other & see if it still happens,
if so then It's probaly imbalance as Peter suggests.

Go to a tyre shop and get your wheels balanced shouldn't cost more than £10.

Another possibility and often overlooked is driving style

fast driving and fast cornering will put the tyre out of shape you can
check by raising the car just off the (level) ground and rotate the wheel
checking ground clearance at various points

Of course if your wheel judders at 70 mph and you have not got a clue as to
why then don't wait for an answer in a newsgroup .....get to a garage or
    tyre specialist and ask!

  6. There must be something seriously wrong if you have to 'push' it up to
    70. I have trouble keeping mine (2.0i CD, L plate) below 85! :)

another trick is to raise the car & deflate the tyre, look for deformation
in its shape, but i'd go with a waight has come off and it is unbalanced.

might even be toe-in very bad.

very worse case will be wheelbearing shot, but very rare to show itself just
    like that.
hold the wheel 12o'clk & 6o'clk try and wobble it, should be very little or
    no movement.

Amazing, My Vectra had the same problem, just as I reached 70mph, the
Vauxhall dealer monorep found the fault to be in the gearbox, something to
do with the flywheel. Anyway, they replaced it and it's been fine. Luckily
for me it was just a few weeks before my warrantee ran out.
