I have been quoted two massively differing prices for a two year service on
a 1.6 petrol Zafira 2006 new shape. Both are well known nationwide Vauxhall
Main Dealers. One quoted £195 and the other £249.89 both include VAT (I
asked). Surely they should be close if not the same. I thought all main
dealers went of 'crib sheets' for hours required and pricing. Am I likely
to get the same work done at either dealership (in theory). Are there any
dealers reading these posts that could advise me please? I live in Leeds
and both dealerships are within a 10 mile radius of me.

    Cheers

Not a dealer reply John but one of experience. Just make sure all fluids /
consumerables are included in the fixed price quotes. We had a similar
situation up here in Dundee some years ago but one had conveniently 'forgot'
to include the oil in the charge and wanted to add it on later. Our dealer
services were also done under their Master Fit once over the 2 year mark as
they were cheaper but apparently identical services as their mainstream
product. Do not ask why anyone would opt for the more expensive same
service though but only assume folk just book a service without questioning
    it.

  3. My small town based Vauxhall dealer would do job for about £150 so it
depends on location & overheads dictating hourly labour rate. Also
some will still use semi-synthetic oil instead of fully synthetic at
    about £30 difference in price.

Did one quote include an oil flush and fuel system additive?

I have no idea, I just asked for the '2 year service' cost as my car is
now 2 years old. I assume if you go to a main dealer and ask for a '2 year
service' you would get the same service (mechanically) wherever you go as
they must surely use Vauxhall 'tick sheets'.

Did either of them ask you the mileage? There are, or at least used to
be, different services for high mileage vehicles than others.

Both asked and I told them both 11,700 miles so not high at all, and as both
dealers are within 10 miles of my home the location shouldn't be a factor.
I have since called the dearer one to ask why and the receptionist said
"that's the price on my service matrix". They were not intrested in price
matching so off to the cheaper one I will go.

    Cheers
