Second year breakdown cover?

Does anyone know what the level of breakdown cover there is in
the second year after a new Vauxhall is bought?
If I'm not wrong it is not the same as the first.
Opinions - should I back it up with another eg. AA/RAC/Green Flag?

 

I don't know, but...

Don't waste your money. I've had assorted Vauxhalls for the last 25 years -
several brand new, the current one is a clapped out 150k miles 10 year old
1.8 veccy. None has ever left me stranded. If you really thought your 12+
month old is going to break down on the open road, you wouldn't have bought
it....

Whatever else gets irritating with a Vx, reliability beats everything I've
ever had. And do you notice broken down cars on the hard shoulders these
days? I do - cos they're so rare!!

Take the risk, relax and save your money....

 

I had the 2nd and 3rd year cover on mine.

Very useful it was too - covers (practically) everything except stuff listed
as excluded in you owners handbook. Don't be funny, it was I think almost as
good as, if not the same as, the 1st year cover.

I had out of it
Font N/S hub assembly
A/C Compressor
Various lights
Complete steering set-up (rack, pump etc.)
Another steering pump a year later
G'Box oil seals
and so on

Am I scared now its out of warranty? - you bet!

 

Me too - well nearly, still got warranty until next October so there's
still time for things to go wrong.

Had two timing chain replacements and a new gear linkage. The AA cover
provided by Vauxhall Assistance is good - just make sure that you get
the replacement card when you get the car serviced - that's what you're
paying them for by taking it to the main dealer...!

I pay something like 40 quid a year for a recovery service and it's
worth it to me. I dunno about this particular model's reliability but
I've been stranded in vauxhalls due to several cambelt failures but not
much else (split fuel pipe, broken distributor, damaged oil pump). For
40 quid why take the risk?

 

Firstly the AA breakdown cover for the first year includes Relay, home
start etc while yoear 2 and 3 is just roadside assistance. To get that
you need to get the car serviced by a Vauxhall dealer.

The other posts seem more concerned about the level of warranty and
that is irelevant. You have a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty.

The best value upgrade is Vauxhall Sureguard. This will cost you £119
for TWO years AA upgrade and also give you a few other benefits.

£59.50 per year for full AA Relay/home start/recovery is good value.

Any vauxhall dealer can sell it to you on the spot and your supplying
dealer should have offered it to you.

The biggest problem I find with the AA is that they are a breakdown service
and will not recover your vehicle if it is undrivable after an accident
without charging you heavily. The majority of their members are unaware of
this until they find out the hard/expensive way. With many of their rivals
including the RAC accident recovery is included. I would bear this in my
when considering the Vauxhall backed scheme.
