Same Paint Code but Different Colours ??????

    Hello,

My Cav V6 CDX is metallic green in colour (Nautilius Blue Mica - 14L/L283)

After some Wa**er scratched every panel, I wanted to change some panels
over, rather than getting them resprayed. A mate of mine is breaking his Cav
and says I can have whatever panels I need. His car is is 2 litre GLS which
is also Nautilius Blue and in immaculate condition.

According to both our VIN plates, the paint code is the same, but when the
cars are side by side, especially in the sun, the cars look different. Mine
seems to have a lovely sparkly 2 tone pearlescent flake effect, whereas, my
    mate's Cav doesn't.

Is is possible that even though the paint codes are the same, the finishes
    could be different?

Did Vauxhall offer different finishes - metallic, pearlescent or clearcoat
etc for different spec cars e.g. CDX, GLS etc?

If so is there any way to confirm which finish a car had, other than the
    naked eye?

(I want to check before fitting my mate's panels, or the car may look really
weird with 2 different shades of green - lol)

    hehe small world.
just had the same game with my sintra [newport blue]

a quick call to the local dealer sorted it.
give them the reg and the vin and they will tell you all the details.
turns out there was a diff finish, mine was twin preal coated as an option
they even told the gent where to buy the stuff

Could one of the cars have had a complete respray in the past with
    'something near'?

Maybe one of them had been left out in the sun too long?

Same with my Astra (Metallic Lagoon Blue). Once the lacquer was applied
it gave rise to very pale bloches that I'm now trying to get rid of by
using metallic finish cutting compound and a polishing disk and it's
taking ages. The base colour may be correct, but, the lacquer seems to be
different and I did cut around it to help initial blending.
