Rev counter and speedo not working???????????

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by someone famous, Apr 27, 2005.

  1. As I mentioned in my previous message, today I bought a vectra.
The car had been standing for six months but fired up after a jump start.
As I drove home I noticed that the Speedo needle was not moving.
Also the rev counter stayed at the zero position but just seem to vibrate
    severely.

I contacted the previous owner and he told me that both were working when he
last drove the car six months ago.
I have no reason to doubt him as he is a close family friend.
It may just be a coincidence that the rev and Speedo have packed up at the
    same time.
I just can't help but feel the faults lie with it being unused for six
    months.

Can any one suggest anything to check or do?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Probably bad connections behind the dash(damp/condensation etc). Pull
it-despite some comments on this group its not difficult, just a bit fiddly.
    unplug/replug and try it.

I agree, but the question was about speedo and rev counter not working, not
    a blown bulb.
