Removing Dashboard Astra Panel

It looks like one single plastic piece that houses the radio, LCD
screen, airflow-knobs etc. Goes from top of dashboard to the bottom,
near floor. Astra Club Estate 2001.

Any ideas before I start jabbing it with a screwdriver..?

(The issue is a badly illuminated LCD screen, which works occasionally
with a hit to the dashboard, so something simple is wrong somewhere)

Did I say simple? The fool.

Not too bad to do just a bit awkward.
Get 2 new bulbs before you start cos if you just fit one it will look odd as
the new one will be brighter than the old one.
    Radio out
Radio cage out - torx screw at the back
Look either side of the radio hole and there are 2 more torx screws.
Take the small panel out bellow the ash tray - just pulls - 4 more screws I
    think or could be 2.
    Ash tray out
Take the storage box out from bellow the radio - just squeeze it top and
    bottom and pull.
You need to separate the heater controls from the panel - look through the
hole where the storage box was and you will see 2 silver clips on the heater
controls - you just lift them up at the end - there are 2 more underneath. A
bit fiddly as you need to lift all 4 clips up and push the heater controls
    back at the same time.
Then the top of the whole panel just pulls out - will be stiff.
If you get someone to help you tilt it up while you change the screws you
won't need to undo the wiring for the hazard switch.
Refitting is just the reverse but make sure you clip the heater in.

hope this helps but as I have done this from memory and it might be all
wrong please don't shout at me if you break some thing cos I have gotten it
    wrong !!!

That's spot on, cheers! I've managed to get the two bulbs out, both
have a green plastic base and the bulb appears to be locked into it.
Wilko's do sell the bulbs themselves, but this Vauxhall version seems
to be a whole unit, plastic and all?

I went to a car shop just now and was told, 'no, we don't have any of
those green ones, you'll have to see your dealer.'

But yeah, one of the bulbs had blown, and I'm glad it wasn't the LCD
screen itself. I'm sure they wouldn't be cheap.

PS: If you did all that from memory, what other tricks do you do?

The only trick I really want to do is get the numbers right on the euro
million lottery roll over. I would have more cars than Posh & Becks and
have gorgeous women fighting for my attention !!! Best not tell the wife
    that bit.
