    Hi
I have an 04 plate zafira. The middle seats make an awful rattle - its like
    an old bus!
The car has been back once [not long after we had it] for the same thing -
    the mechanic
said a bearing under the seat needed greasing.

Well the rattle is back with a vengeance, anyone know how easy it is to get
    to this "bearing"?

could return the car, yet again, for them to do it but they end up keeping
    the damn thing for ages
and I cant be without the car, so though I could do it myself?

Its a damned annoying noise I can tell you!!

you might want to check all the bolts are tight and it's not the seat moving
    about in its mountings
i got a diagram from seward to show how the seat is removed
just need a "star" shaped "allen key" thingy and a thin bar to pop out the
little plastic widgets that hold the plastic coverplates on :)

well thats as clear as mud :)))

is that diagram available at all?

the star shaped thingie is a "torx" but most people call it a star shaped
allen key thingie to be honest.

    Ok here are the sheets
    might not be very clear
and not too accurate if i remember (spent ages looking for the other bolts
    that didn't exist)
careful not to lose the pins from the plastic thingies that hold the
    plastic cover in place :)

oh and you really need that "2nd technician" because the seat is VERY
    HEAVY

Thanks for the scans, most useful.
Though thinking about it, it is just the plastic cover that covers the
middle rail slidey thingie [TM technical term]
if i could get access to under that, then the rattly bearing should be
visible [the irritating rattle eminates from that area]

the ideal solution though would be to bin the entire car and get a galaxy!

    wish me luck

i think you need to take the seat out to get to it :)
i've had the zafira for 18 months now and the only (real) complaint apart
from the fuel consumption is the dead right leg after 90mins of driving
oh and the wipers which always smear but at least they don't make that
scraping noise like my old '92 vectra unless it's Really Peeing down
if you were lucky then you wouldn't have bought it in the first place :)
