Power Steering

I purchased a Meriva 04 plate an EPS light is comming on more frequently and steering gets heavy , I switch of ignition and it resets itself and ok for period of time ,I've done homework and going to look at torque angle sensor and clean connectors and check to see if all situated properly,if all fails at this I'm thinking of replacing the eps motor and hope this will correct the problem ,the car is over 10 years and vx I'm sure won't entertain me on fix without a very expensive fix and iv a very low budget ,has anyone else any knowledge of this fault or done a repair, cheers
