I took my Mk3 Astra convertable to the body shop for a wing-edge respay to
delay some rust. The spay shop needed to take the front bumper off but when
I collected the car the outside temperature display showed just dashes.
The spray shop said it was not their fault, and the Vauxhall garage tested
the wiring and said that it was complete, replaced the sensor which did not
cure the poblem, and then said that it was the display that had been
    electronically damaged.
If the display is gone why does it show date, time and radio details I
    wonder?
Anyone else had this problem? Is there a particular connector that needs to
be cleaned or re-seated? Is there an in-line fuse?

No in line fuse. If they have tried a new sensor and checked the wiring
then it can only be the display. Heard of this on a Vectra - date and radio
    display fine but no temp.
Do you know anyone else with an Astra you could maybe borrow the display
    from?
