Automatic Gearbox check came up on display the other day, very hot day,
stopped switched off started again with no warning showing
proeeded to do 140 miles wit no problems and about another 200 since
gearbox changes perfectly any ideas why this happened outside temp was
reading 31deg

Something similar happened on my Safrane when climbing lengthy and very
steep (>1:4 ) narrow tracks in Snowdonia. Guess that the cooling was simply
not up to it. It's not the sort of message you want to see when some way
off the main road!

No problems when driving around the Alps! Their main roads don't seem to be
as steep as our narrow tracks.
