I have to change brake fluid in Omega '96
Which one should it be (DOT - ?)
Shell service nearby uses only and only DOT-4, I have no service history, no labels under the trunk.

It should be stated on the cap of the brake oil tank. Just take a look under
    the bonnet...

Negative, nothing to be found on the cap or tank itself.....

Unless the car requires a proprietry brake fluid (whcih I doubt) then
dot-4 would be the one of choice with dot-3 probably still being
    acceptable.

One German book says for Omega is Dot 4 or SAE J 1703.
But there are many DOT 4 brake fluids on the market, some of them may harm some parts, especially in older system.
How do you thing about Castrol synthetic DOT 4 brake fluid ?
Any of you use it in your Vauxhall year 1996-97 ?

Isn't DOT4 a type of standard? Therefore any DOT4 will do.

Well, there might be mineral or synthetic DOT 4.
IMHO dot specifies maximum sevice temperature.
But I'm not specialist, so my questions.
