a friend has a 2.5 v6 omega diesel, M reg, which is getting bad to start
from cold but ok once warm. i`m guessing glowplugs. how easy are they to get
at on these engines ? I`m going to test them in situ if i can, I dont have
the proper garage tool , will a multimeter do the job ?

yes, ohms check on each will do, i would expect a reading of around 10R
they go toward 100R when they get old.

ps don't forget to disconnect the feed to each one while testing else spoof
    results.

as they r something that will almost certainly need to be changed on a
fairly regular basis interms of the life of a car, i would suspect it will
    not be too difficult.
however there r pigs, i do not know the engine.
but u should see a lead bolted to the top of each one, disconnect that & go
from top of glowplug (where wire was) to engine body.
