Omega remote fob not registering

Discussion in 'Omega' started by peter.brannigan, May 25, 2006.

  1. I got my local Vx dealer to order me a new fob to replace one of the
originals on my 1994 Omega Elite, but they couldn't get it to register
    on my car.

Does anyone know why this might happen? The dealer says that it may be
a faulty controller, which costs around £300.

I am new to this group and hope someone can help.

Go register on www.cavweb.co.uk then go to the Omega forum -
knowledgeable bunch of Omega lovers in there.

Did they get the right one as there is more than one type?
They have Bosch, Megamoss and the frequency can be 433hz or 433.92hz.
If it isn't the right one it won't program.

    Hi Mike,
that may be it. When I phoned them up to place the order, I gave
them the numbers from inside the fob, and they called back later to say
that they couldn't find these numbers but had found a replacement.

Do you know if it is possible to find out the frequency from the part
    numbers?

By the way, I took your advice and posted this in the VxON Omega forum.

Hmm....I'm talking about an Astra here, but there are two different types of
remote key fobs. One operates the locks on cars with alarms and the other
without. They look the same and are not interchangeable. With the mix up
in part no's it could be the garage has got the wrong one.

The fobs that my Omega uses are oval shape with a big button in the
centre, to operate the CL and alarm, and a small one on the side for
    the deadlocks.
The new one looks just the same as the older ones, and the dealers are
pretty savvy so they may have got it right.
