Omega-Intermittent connection on Speedo multi-way plug

Discussion in 'Omega' started by Patrick E. King, Jul 24, 2005.

  1. Omega 1998 2L petrol Ecotec.
The subject-line more or less says it all.
Having replaced bulbs on the instrument panel I notice that I have an
intermittently bad connection on this plug/socket arrangement.
I assume it is the multi-way plug. (I get several of the warning lights
lighting and the gauge readings drop to zero.)
This same symptom was also present, but to a lesser degree, before I removed
the unit to replace the bulbs.
Is this a well known regular problem with this unit on this model.
More importantly, is there a standard fix for it?
    TIA

  2. I just got the problem sorted and thought I would post the outcome here in
case it may of interest to some readers.
It appears that the cause of the problem was the lower of the two guide
clips on the RHS of the opening for the instrument panel.
The clip had broken at the highest point and was preventing proper seating
of the unit thus leading to the problem I described.
