Omega Cruise Control

  1. Hi,
Finally got my cruise control looked at and it appears the motor is duff -
the cable (not electrical) leading from the motor to the throttle control
has frayed and broken. It seems that a new motor is required - been told
that Vauxhall want a couple of hundred squids for them.
Found some on ebay all of which have the serial no.25141616 on the motor
housing and I believe they all come off Omega 2.5 V6s.
My serial no. 25315546 - 2.0 Ecotec Auto Petrol model.
Does anyone know if these two units would be interchangable. From the ebay
pictures they look identical, but my
mechanical man wonders if the V6 would have a longer cable and maybe the
gearing and amount of cable pulling would be different. (Only going by what
I told him on the phone).
As usual any help is appreciated
    Regards
    Todger

Is the motor duff *and* the cable or just the motor?
I would guess that the cruise control has feedback from speed sensors
so a different motor might be ok?

  3. Hi, Don't know if the motor is physically duff, but the cable (more of a
flat fibre tape about 7mm wide inside a round plastic tube) has frayed and
broken and vauxhall only sell the whole unit.
Now have looked closely at my own cable (still in the car - motor on the
bench) it has a fixed "fixing thing" about halfway down its length - about
25cm -ish from the motor end, then about another 25cms-ish to the throttle
    connection.
Whereas the on the 3 on ebay the length of cable between motor and fixing
thingey appears to only be 12cms-ish.
So I suspect I may be snookered with those and will need to keep looking for
    a matching part.
Anyone have URLs for vauxhall breakers?????
    Thanks

just a suggestion but have you looked at any from a non omega 2.0 eco?
perhaps they are individual to the engine, not the car?

Not sure the fittings would match up - I think it may be something to do
with their position in the car and the length/type of cable required.
