Omega alarm sounding when it shouldn't

  1. Hi All,

Over the past couple of weeks, my T-Reg Omega's alarm has started playing
up. The sounder is going off, seemingly at random, sometimes when driving,
sometimes when locked up. It sounds for 30 seconds or so, then goes off
again, the engine keeps running OK though. All very odd! It also often goes
off when I first start the car from cold.

I thought maybe the alarm was sounding due to low voltage, so I've had the
battery checked, it has plenty of strength and the charging system is
working fine. The plug that connects to the sounder was a bit damp (rain
vent directly above it!), so I've doused it with WD40 and then sealed it
with ignition sealer, but the sounder keeps going off.

Has anyone experienced the same, or got any ideas please?

    Best
    Neville

yep, and wd40 won't help. it's no good for electrical stuff.
check the spade terminals on the sounder are nice and shiny, then smear with
a bit of grease or switch cleaner.
the sintra is the same, drain hole right above the connector! brainy that!

what voltage did they get on the sounder?

the other thing to check is the movement sensors.
try hitting the button to disable them before you get out.
mine are a nightmare in the summer.

if you do disconnect/reconnect the sounder, do it with the igniyion on else
    it will go off.

i finally sorted mine by getting a scrappy from a wrecked car.
it was about 1.5volts low, but this did not show under/after a charge (one
    cell failed)

one thing i did was to disconnect it totally to prove my theory
i ran a week with it off, and had no false alarms.

  3. Thanks Mike,

It's now disconnected, until I get a new battery.

    Cheers
