Oil consumption on Omega?

Discussion in 'Omega' started by Patrick E. King, Aug 25, 2003.

  1. Is it normal for the 2L Omega to require a top-up of approx. three-quarters
of a litre of oil per month?
Year of manufacture is 1998 and mileage is 85K...puff of white smoke from
    exhaust on start-up on mornings.
    Regards
    Patrick.

It's not normal, but then again it's not unique. White smoke on cold
mornings is nothing to worry about. Constant bluish smoke means you are
    burning oil.

There is probably a leak somewhere. Put a clean sheet of newspaper
underneath the car overnight to see if you can get a clue about this. If it
looks like major work to repair the leak, you may well decide to just keep
    topping up.

A 85k mileage doesn't mean much. Few cars could survive 85k from a boy
racer/petrol head. Most cars can manage 150k of normal driving without major
    work being needed.
