    Hi All
Well I had the new centre section of exhaust fitted and the engine
management light re-set. Hey presto! ......... NO!
    It came back on!
Took it Vx main dealer who rechecked it for the princely sum of £35 and told
me they were fairly sure it was the O2 sensor and the bill was going to be
£207.58 !!!!! - sensor not in stock and will take 3-4 days (exhaust was out
of stock £20+ more & 2 days to get - that's why I went elsewhere).
    Is this the norm?
On my reckoning a full exhaust system fitted and 2 new o2 sensors and the
car is almost BER'd (Y reg 2.2 petrol CD).
Sorry to whinge but prices do seem excessive (not just a little) and parts
are always out of stock for a reasonably modern car and lead times are
    dreadful.
Upon a bit of questioning through a relay message system (service
receptionist - probably a very nice lass, but she couldn't answer a question
without having to ask someone else) they are getting the part for the
morning - job done by 09:00.
Let's hope they have got the right one! I have around 600 miles to do this
weekend before they can have it back on Monday if it's still faulty.
So is this a common picture amongst Vx dealers? and is the price structure
    similar?
    Thanks
    O. N.

i had the o2 sensor changed on my astra 02 model,
i had it done by wilco, and they fit it for free, and they had to go and
collect the bit from one of their suppliers because they did not have the
correct one in stock. price including vat = £62 and a few penny`s
it is worth shopping around the exhaust centers that fit exhausts for free.

I am not convinced it is going to cure it.
If it is the down stream o2 sensor that is playing up I would expect it to
be either the sensor itself or the CAT not the middle box. The first o2
sensor is for mixture regulation while the second one makes sure that cat is
    doing it's job.
    I guess CAT.

i wouldnt trust the vauxhall diagnostic system too much ive spend
£3000 on vauxhall guessing what my o2 sensor fault is and now they say
they have run out of ideas what it could be so ishould just live with
    the fault

    Hi Guys
Happy to report back that no further expense - after extended testing - O2
    sensor was the problem.
But having been got over a barrel, so to speak, I feel "ripped off" at the
pricing of the job - £207.58 for the job.
    Thanks all for your input
