no grip

Hi,
I have a mk4 astra and whenever it rains I have no front end grip in the
rain. The tyres tread is all fine and it is on firestone tyres. I have been
driving for 8 years and have only ever had problems with grip in this car.
THe slightest touch of the brakes and it just starts to skid. The slightest
touch of the accelerator pedal while partly turning and the car starts to go
away from me. Has anyone else had an simular problems?

 

Yep - I've owned a Mk3 and Mk4 Astra, both had no grip at all on the front
in the rain. Just have to be extra careful. My Cavalier did not have this
problem.

 

I had a mk3 astra before and that had bundles of grip compared to my present
car. strange really

 

I guess you have checked the pressures so might be an idea to change to a
tyre with a softer compound.
