I've got a new vectra elegance 1.8 saloon. its only a year and a half old
but the suspension is scaring me now. in wet weather every time I go over
speed bumps or waves in the road it makes a horrible creaking/grinding
noise. with 4 people in the car its even worse. A Vauxhall mechanic took it
on a test run with me sitting in it and said it was nothing major and that's
the way Vauxhall's are built. I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be the case
with a car not even 2 years old. Has anyone had these probs with a similar
car, or can anyone advise on what to do?

We have had droplink problems before and my car has been making a funny
clunking noise on bumps. We couldn't find it either but in we loosened and
retorqued both top front mount struts and inserts. This made a big
    difference.

There were also a few other minor things including retorquing a lot of the
    suspension and the radiator mounts.

call out rac or aa whoever and say you think the car is unsafe to drive

They will come out and ask you the problem
and test to see if they think it is unsafe.

    take it from there.

    Hi,

Alan you sound bang on there with the advice. but i dont really know much
about the inner workings of cars, will my local vauxhall dealer do this
under the warranty. Mind you it is an "Anorld Clark" garage.

  5. I think the answer to this is yes, if it was bought as a UK model new from a
VX dealership, you get a 3 year warranty ( I think technically its 1 year VX
inc AA membership + 2 years dealer).

But if it was an import, bought via a car supermarket, it might be
    different.

If you bought it new yourself, or know the original owner and source, you
    will already have the background.

Check your handbook for the warranty conditions, and also check your service
    book and see what thatsays.

The job will be covered by warranty and you may like to give them a copy of
    my posting.

Obviously this presumes it is still under warranty which it will be unless
    it is an import.
