K Reg Astra - Big problem this morning - First Car

Discussion in 'Astra' started by Craig Pickles, Jun 7, 2005.

  1. Hi Guys,

My Car has been running great for a little while, K Reg Astra Estate. This
morning everything was fine, it was very warm so put the blower on full.
Went to supermarket (10 minute drive away).

When I came out of the supermarket, I noticed that the Blower wouldn't
work, as well as that My Braking system light has come one (Brakes seem to
work fine) and battery low light has come on, two month old new battery,
and a regularly run car (Did over 150 miles in the car this weekend)

Its strange that all this happened at one time, two minutes after been fine
in a supermarket car park. Is there something seriously wrong? What should
I do (This is my first car).

    Thanks for any help

    Craig

Sounds like something is wrong with the charging system and possibly
the battery was replaced when that wasn't the culprit.

Thanks for the reply, the alternator was the problem, its all sorted
now. Except for the ventilation system, the fan on all 3 positions is
now dead as a dodo, and the car gets very warm in this sun :(

    Cheers

    is this since the change?
1001 things it could be, give it a bash with 'something'
i'd go for the brushes first off if there is power going toit.
pull the connector off and check

    Id try the fuses first.
is there anything else not working that runs off the same circuit?

Yep, this problem has been ever since the problem occured (It was very
warm, I noticed the blower wasnt working before I noticed my brake
    warning light!)

    What part should I bash?

    Cheers

well i suppose bashing might be a bit of a hard word
it's usually up behind the glove box

give it a few taps if it dont come to life and start working then perhaps
pull off the connector and see if it has volts to it.
