Intermittent running problem with 1.4 Corsa

I've got an S-reg Corsa with a 1.4 litre 8 valve (HiTorq) engine, which
has had an intermittent engine fault for most of the year that I've
    owned it.

The problem is a sudden momentary loss of power, which causes the car to
judder. I have been able to demonstrate this problem to my local
Vauxhall dealer, who diagnosed it as an EGR fault, and replaced the EGR
valve. Unfortunately, this has had no effect. The garage have run a
Tech2 check on the car, which did not reveal any further information.

This problem seems to be related to the amount of petrol in the tank.
It is at its worst when I have just refueled, and gradually diminishes
until the tank is about three quarters full, after which it hardly ever
occurs. It is also effected by petrol quality; I usually use Shell
Optimax, with which the problem is merely annoying, but with Tesco
unleaded the sudden loss of power is sometimes large enough to be
    dangerous.

Can anyone suggest a solution, or recommend another garage in the
Maldon, Essex area that I should take it to?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

Thanks, I'll take a look at the weekend. Up until now, I've always relied
on the garage for this sort of thing. How difficult will it be to do
    this for myself?
