Seems I might have a "new" problemette with my Vectra.
I'm getting the same symptoms as in failed leak off pipes i.e. after
several days being stood unused the car is very hard to start, just like
the fuel system needs priming with fuel, exactly the same as the
leak-off pipes failing. Thing is, the leak off pipes were changed
recently (I will re-check them though).
Garage (dealer) is suggesting that "seals have failed in the injectors"
and a bill of circa £150 would follow from their repair.
Suggestions? Is this a possibility? There was no oil in the leak-off
    pipes when they were changed.

A work colleague has a 51 plate Veccy 2.2 DTi, with around 100k on it,
and he's just had the injector seals changed. same problem.

Erm....around 350 quid - mind you that was from a Vx main dealer.

    OUCH!
My local dealer suggested around £150 (3 hours + parts).
It will have to wait 7/10 days because they're fully booked until the
    last week of the month.

Sounds like you've got a relatively good deal there Dave, less than 50
quid per hour labour - unless the parts are free ;-)

I've just looked in a Haynes manual. Their "estimate" must be wrong.
The job involves lifting the engine slightly, removing the inlet
manifold and then removing the camshaft and followers to gain access to
the injector cross pipes and relevant seals. Haynes gives it 4 or of 5
spaners, so it must be a five hour job. That'll be £250 + vat for labour
then (minimum). i.e as near as makes no difference the £350 your mate
    was charged.
Mental note: When buying a 2.2DTi 2nd hand make sure you start it from
cold and that it's been left overnight or knock £300+ off the asking
    price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This particular dealer is £50+vat per hour for labour.
