the ignition key wont always turn in my omega, is that
i have two keys and niether of them turn if the problem comes up
it clears after "fiddling with it", the cars done 70,000, is this simply
    a worn out lock barrel?

    thanks for any advice

Have the keys worked ok in the past, or are they copies you have had
    cut/inherited with the car?
My own (non vx) car came with a couple of keys that open the doors but not
the ingnition, even tho they should be the same. turned out they were about
2mm too short for the ignition!

Well unless you run 2 marathons a day with your car keys and about £20 of
loose change all in the same pocket, it probably isnt the keys then <g>

Best guess from the description then is that the tumblers in the barrel
might be sticking. i.e. moving out of the way when the key is inserted, but
not coming back in immediately to follow the contour of the key. methinks
some form of lubrication is in order. possibly a squirt of wd40, but get a
second opinion on whats best here (anyone else on the group care to
comment?)as possibly some might recommend graphite lube for the job.

Spookily enough exactly the same thing happened to me at 20 to 7 this
morning, Omega ingition key wouldn't turn : took a judicious spray of
WD40 on the key and a few thumps to get the thing to turn. I'll try put
some proper lubricating oil on the key and repeat the rpocress when I
    get home :-/.

still haven't sorted out my lambda sensor either :-((
