How do I change the lamps behind Astra heater controls?

Discussion in 'Astra' started by Kentish Contractor, Jul 21, 2004.

  1. I have a 1992 Astra and there is currently no illumination on the
heater and ventilation controls. However, the instrument gauges light
up OK. How many lamps do I need to buy; what type are they and how do
I gain access to replace them?

    Thanks

I'd like to know this too - the illumination on the heater controls of my
1993 Astra have been 'dead' for about 5 yrs - I couldn't find a way in and
thought it wasn't worth the expense of taking it to a garage.

  3. Nice to meet another Mk3 Astra owner. I got mine a few weeks ago for
only £150. with 70,000 miles on the clock. After replacing the faulty
ECU with a tested second-hand one, it goes like a dream, apart from
some slight pinking. As I got it from a neighbour, I know it's
    complete history.
If I solve the light problem, I'll let you know.

Blimey - is my car worth so little?! I've had it from new, 1.7D, 79.5K
miles now, and apart from being a bit noisy now, and a spot or two of rust
on a wheel arch, it's fine and - above all - reliable. Apart from the lamps
behind the heater controls, that is :)

  5. Actually, I have no idea what the market value is, but I realise I did
get one hell of a bargain from my neighbour.
When my 1988 Cavalier was stolen, the insurance valued that at £300,
but they took a £100 excess out of that.
3 or 4 years ago, I did some driving for a security firm. They had a
couple of Corsa diesel vans with turbo and power steering etc etc.
They used to go like stink. One of the guys had 115 mph out of one
    along the M20 one night.

    Mine's non-turbo : (
Got up to 100 mph once on a French motorway after a three-day run-up ;-)
